The Paul W. Barret, Jr. School of Banking is a non-profit, independent school created by and governed by a Board of Regents, whose members are executives from banks and other firms involved with the financial services industry. The school was incorporated as the Memphis School of Banking in 1976, later changing its name to Mid South School of Banking in 1979 and finally to the Paul W. Barret, Jr. School of Banking in 2001 after receiving a sizeable grant from its namesake’s charitable trust. The mission of the school is to provide an adult learning experience for the career-oriented individual in commercial banking or a related financial services industry business.

Paul W. Barret, Jr. Graduate School of Banking has been providing advanced banking education for forty-three years, with a curriculum designed to provide a high degree of understanding of all commercial banking functions. During the three-year program, graduates received 125 hours of classroom instruction and prepared in-depth reports in eight areas of study. Approximately 250 financial industry professionals from eighteen states participated in the 2015 session.

BSB is governed by a Board of Regents, which includes bankers in senior management positions from several states. The school’s faculty is comprised of twenty outstanding businesses, financial and educational leaders who are experts in their chosen fields.
